Paterno last season 12 young worked as a quarterback coach. His departure is expected after last week’s school called the New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien to succeed JoePa as head coach. Paterno dismissed November 9.

Jay Paterno said he and O’Brien talks this week and two “reached the conclusion” he’s not going to be a part of the new staff. He plans to take several weeks to consult with his wife and family of options within and outside of football.
