The principal named in $ 1.3 million lawsuit claiming that the school system is failing to protect two students fight bullying takes the stand Tuesday, saying that bullying “has become the buzz word” and acknowledged that the two attacks on students, including special needs children, “may have been mentioned” to him by their parents.
Sidney Twiggs, principal at Hazelwood elementary/intermediate, is the first witness in the so-called by the school system lawyer to testify about the events that Shawna and Edmund Sullivan stated happened with sons and daughters, who attend school in the school year 2008-2009.
Sullivan’s special needs child, now 10, attending classes at Hazelwood in second class and Glenmount. Their daughter, now 14, attended Hazelwood in the fifth grade.
Twiggs outlined his responsibilities primarily as “instructional leadership” at school and also to ensure that students are safe and secure.
